Frequently Asked Questions

What does the weekly schedule look like for The Pursuit?

The Pursuit interns will be actively involved at the IHOP Atlanta Missions Base around 60 hours per week. Fifteen to twenty of these hours will be spent in the area of helps ministries, including administrative tasks, cleaning, child care, etc. At least thirty hours each week will be spent in the prayer room in times of corporate intercession, personal study, and devotional worship. The remaining hours will be used for teaching, training, and community building.

What is the Housing Situation for The Pursuit Interns?

The IHOP Atlanta condominiums residents are grouped by gender. Each condominium is fully furnished and will accommodate between 6 to 8 individuals. Residents who are participating in other IHOP Atlanta internships will be under the supervision of Resident Assistants.

All those in IHOP Atlanta housing will be expected to abide by the rules and regulations of the Housing Department, which will include regular inspections of each residence. Alcohol and tobacco products are not permitted.

Do I Need a Car?

The Pursuit interns must provide their own reliable transportation. Exceptions are possible with prior approval. All personal vehicles must have valid insurance coverage. If you have a vehicle please be prepared to carpool with others. If you do not have a vehicle, please be prepared to help with the cost of fuel for another intern's vehicle.

Do I Need a Laptop Computer?

Much of the day-to-day communication in the IHOP Atlanta community takes place over the internet through e-mail. It is highly recommended that The Pursuit interns have a laptop computer in order to journal, study, and communicate. We have found that a laptop is very useful in the ongoing study of the Scriptures. Laptops should have a wireless network card and a Bible study program.

What Personal Expenses Should I Expect?

You are responsible for providing the necessary personal finances to cover your food, housing, social activities, and any other personal expenditures during the program. A minimum of $75.00 per week is recommended.

What is the Dating Policy for The Pursuit?

The Pursuit interns are not permitted to date for the duration of the program. The purpose of the internship is to give oneself to God for a season of consecration with undivided devotion and commitment.

Are There Any Other Rules for The Pursuit Interns?

You are expected to be free of any personal addictions (to alcohol, drugs, tobacco, pornography, etc.) before applying for The Pursuit. Due to the intensity of this program, it is recommended that you be free from any such addictions for at least six months prior to your arrival. Our desire is for interns to be able to focus their undivided attention upon the Lord, rather than struggling with frequent temptations in the area of a recently-overcome addiction.

Attendance during all scheduled internship hours is required in order to remain in the program. Exceptions will be made for illnesses and family emergencies.

Will I be Able to Have a Part-time Job During The Pursuit?

Because your time will be scheduled for 60 hours each week, part-time or full-time jobs are not permitted so that interns can give their undivided attention to the Lord.

No, The Pursuit interns will be responsible for buying and preparing their own meals.

GSM: The Book of Isiaah
1/12/2009 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Isaiah was not only a prophetic voice to his generation, but also a powerful messianic and eschatological theologian. He is the most frequently quoted prophetic voice in the Scriptures. In this course, we will explore the vast amount of detail and prophetic insight concerning the nature of prophecy, justice to the poor, Messiah as the Suffering Servant, the End of the Age, the Harlot Babylon, the Antichrist, the Day of the Lord, Israel's example to the nations, and the Millennial Kingdom. Week after week, we will unravel the mysteries of Isaiah’s prophecies through considering their historical context as well as the future implications of the many prophecies yet to be fulfilled.

GSM: Knowing God
1/13/2009 6:00pm - 8:00pm
God intended that we know Him intimately through Bible study as we commune with His Spirit, but most Christians open the Bible and don’t know even where to begin. In this course, we will gain necessary tools that will turn your Bible reading into a time that will unlock life-changing revelation and lead to greater intimacy with God. We will develop solid hermeneutics, discover the Hebraic mindset, and discern how western logic influences our comprehension of God's Truth. We will learn different Bible study methods, how to properly use commentaries, lexicons, and other extra-biblical sources, and how to utilize technology to aid organization and further biblical understanding. You will exit this course with a renewed hunger for the Word of God and a personal plan that directs your study time in a productive manner, as you use the tools and methods that work for you.
