Frequently Asked Questions

What does the weekly schedule look like for The Watch?

The Watch interns will be actively involved at the IHOP Atlanta Missions Base at least 55 hours per week. At least 25 hours each week will be spent in the prayer room in times of corporate intercession, personal study, and devotional worship. Fifteen of the 55 hours will be spent in the area of helps ministries, including administrative tasks, cleaning, child care, etc. The remaining hours will be used for teaching, training, and community building.

What is the Housing Situation for The Watch Interns?

The IHOP Atlanta condominiums residents are grouped by gender. Each condominium is fully furnished and will accommodate between 6 to 8 individuals. Residents who are participating in the Watch internship will be under the supervision of Resident Assistants.

All those in IHOP Atlanta housing will be expected to abide by the rules and regulations of the Housing Department, which will include regular inspections of each residence. Alcohol and tobacco products are not permitted.

How do I Apply for IHOP Atlanta Housing?

Housing is included as part of the overall cost of the internship. Housing paperwork will be filed after interns arrive at IHOP Atlanta.

Do I Need a Car?

The Watch interns must provide their own reliable transportation. Exceptions are possible with prior approval. All personal vehicles must have valid insurance coverage. If you have a vehicle please be prepared to carpool with others. If you do not have a vehicle, please be prepared to help with the cost of fuel for another intern's vehicle.

Do I Need a Laptop Computer?

Much of the day-to-day communication in the IHOP Atlanta community takes place over the internet through e-mail. It is highly recommended that The Watch interns have a laptop computer in order to journal, study, and communicate. We have found that a laptop is very useful in the ongoing study of the Scriptures. Laptops should have a wireless network card and a Bible study program.

What Personal Expenses Should I Expect?

You are responsible for providing the necessary personal finances to cover your food, social activities, and any other personal expenditures during the program (a minimum of $75 per week is recommended).

What is the Dating Policy for The Watch?

The Watch interns are not permitted to date for the duration of the program. The purpose of The Watch is to give oneself to God with undivided devotion and commitment.

Are There Any Other Rules for The Watch Interns?

You are expected to be free of any personal addictions (to alcohol, drugs, tobacco, pornography, etc.) before applying for The Watch. Due to the intensity of this program, it is recommended that you be free from any such addictions for at least six months prior to your arrival. Our desire is for interns to be able to focus their undivided attention upon the Lord, rather than struggling with frequent temptations in the area of a recently-overcome addiction.

Attendance during all scheduled internship hours is required in order to remain in the program. Exceptions may be made for illnesses and family emergencies.

Will I be Able to Have a Part-time Job during the Internship?

Because your time will be scheduled for at least 55 hours each week specifically during the night watch hours, holding down a part-time job during internship is not possible. It is recommended that you have enough finances to cover all of your expenses for the three-month duration of The Watch before starting the program.

Are Meals Provided in the Cost of the Program?

No, all interns will be responsible for buying and preparing their own meals on a day-to-day basis. We will have times of community building, which include food, at least once per week.
