FAQs

  • Classes are held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-9:00PM and on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:30PM.

In large class settings, students will be taught by various leaders from GateCity Church. You can expect robust biblical teaching that aim to give us a greater understanding of God, and help us walk out our Christian values throughout our lives. Some of the modules we cover are, Bible and Theology, Knowledge of God, Eschatology, and Doctrine, along with many others.

  • Between classes, time in prayer, and weekly homework assignments, students can expect a commitment of 6-8 hours each week.

  • Each week, students will be assigned a passage of the Bible to read and will work through a short devotional tied to the reading. Over the course of the school, we will work through 29 books of the Bible.

  • Students are required to spend at least 2 hours a week in the prayer room. This is done on their own time, according to their schedule. They can use this time as personal devotion, to complete GCSD homework, to serve in the prayer room as a worship leader or room manager, or to engage in a time of corporate prayer and worship.

  • Yes! With evening sessions held twice a week, our school is tailored for busy adults of all ages, allowing them to balance their work life and other commitments. The course load of the GateCity School of Discipleship is designed to be manageable for those that work full-time or have other obligations. Students can expect 2-4 hours of work time outside of class per week.

  • Following the conclusion of the school year, students will have the opportunity to go on a GCSD missions trip to one of our bases around the world. We have bases in West Africa, East Africa, the Middle East and Mexico. We have not yet picked our destination for the coming school year, however the cost can range from $1500-$3000 which will include lodging, airfare, food, and any group activities. Final details for the trip will be shared at the start of the second semester of GCSD. The trip will however take place during the summer of 2025.

  • If you are unable to attend a class, please reach out to GCSD leadership and your small group as soon as possible. It is advised to connect with your small group to get class notes and recordings. We would ask that you try to not miss more than 3 scheduled class times/ gatherings per semester.

  • Children’s ministry will be happening as part of our Mid-Week service on Wednesday nights. However, on Tuesday nights there will NOT be any form of childcare provided.

  • No. But you should, because we’re awesome ;)

  • There is a $50 application fee. Following that, it will cost $100 each month for a total of $950. For families who would like to do the school together, the cost is $100 a month for the first family member, and $50 per additional family member. So if you and your spouse would like to do the school together, it will cost $150. If you, your spouse and your son want to do it together it would be $200. This price does not include the missions trip.

  • You must be 18 or older to join the school, however there are some exceptions for 17 year olds. You will find that the school is filled with people of all ages. We’ve had everyone from 17 years old to 70 years old in the school.
